Section 1. Adjudicated Programs
a. Music Artistry Program (MAP):
It shall be the duty of the MAP committee to work closely with the Chapter Honors Competition, Fine Arts Recital and MAP Recital committees, arranging locations for MAP, scheduling students, collecting student fees and sending registration cards to the WSMTA MAP Chair. The committee shall make any relevant arrangements for adjudicators, and send a financial summary report to the WSMTA MAP Chair.
b. Chapter Honors Competition (CHC)
It shall be the duty of the Chapter Honors Competition committee to work closely with the MAP and Fine Arts Recital committees. An Adjudicator Selection committee shall choose adjudicators for MAP, Chapter Honors Competition and YAMS. The Adjudicator Selection committee shall approve the Master Class teachers. The Chapter Honors Competition committee, in consultation with the Adjudicator Selection committee shall arrange for the location of the Chapter Honors Competition. The Chapter Honors Competition committee shall schedule students by lottery and work with the Treasurer regarding costs.
- All students entering the Chapter Honors Competition must participate in the MAP.
- No change shall be made in a teacher’s scheduled times as drawn in the lottery.
- The teacher has the prerogative to arrange his/her own scheduled times among his/her students, but not to exchange times with other teachers.
- After the teacher has received his/her scheduled times he/she is honor bound not to fill vacated time slots with last-minute entries.
c. Fine Arts Recital
It shall be the duty of the Fine Arts Recital committee to work closely with the MAP and Chapter Honors Competition committee to arrange all details, including the date, location, programs, and trophies. Student performers will include the state representatives, state alternates and ranked honorable mention winners.
d. MAP Recital
It shall be the duty of the MAP Recital committee to work closely with the MAP and Chapter Honors Competition committees to arrange details (date, location, programs) for the student recital at the conclusion of the MAP. Student performers include those being honored for their outstanding MAP performances as well as unranked honorable mention recipients from the Chapter Honors Competition.
Section 2. Adjudicator Selection Committee
It shall be the duty of the Adjudicator Selection committee to choose adjudicators for MAP, Chapter Honors Competition and Young Artists and Junior Artists Master Series. They shall follow the guidelines established by WSMTA. Reports will be submitted to the board and offered for membership input.
Section 3. Certification/Education
It shall be the duty of the Certification/ Education committee to keep the membership informed of all educational requirements pertinent to certification.
Section 4. Hospitality
It shall be the duty of the Hospitality committee to set up for meetings, obtain necessary items for refreshments, and welcome new members, especially those new to the chapter.
Section 5. Grants
It shall be the duty of the Grants committee to apply for all possible grants before deadline dates. Any monies received from grants shall be used for chapter projects.
Section 6. Nominating
The president shall appoint a Nominating committee consisting of three (3) active members to submit a slate of officers for the members to vote on.
Section 7. MusicLink
It shall be the duty of the MusicLink committee to inform the members about the MusicLink programs and to encourage teachers to have MusicLink students.
Section 8. Publicity
It shall be the duty of the Publicity committee to acquaint the community with the qualifications, standards of teaching, and goals of the membership. The committee shall promote the image of professionalism of the teacher/members.
Section 9. Newsletter
It shall be the duty of the Newsletter committee to inform members of all Chapter activities.
Section 10. Student Recitals
It shall be the duty of the Student Recitals committee to secure a place to hold the recitals and to arrange with the Treasurer for rent to be paid, to arrange the program, and to have a printed program available.
Section 11. Sunshine
It shall be the duty of the Sunshine committee to arrange for cards and/or gifts as appropriate in times of joy and sorrow.
Section 12. Teacher to Teacher Mentor
It shall be the duty of the Teacher to Teacher Mentor committee to follow the guidelines of WSMTA to assist teachers in professional growth and development.
Section 13. Yearbook
It shall be the duty of the Yearbook committee to direct the compiling, typing, printing, and mailing of the yearbook, and to solicit advertising.
Section 14. Junior/Young Artist Master Series (JAMS | YAMS)
It shall be the duty of the JAMS/YAMS committee to arrange for a master teacher, scheduling, costs, and locations for students of teachers who wish to participate in the program.
Section 15. Technology
It shall be the duty of the Technology committee to provide information about Chapter events to the WSMTA Technology Chair for use on the WSMTA Website. The Technology committee shall keep the local chapter members informed about technology changes and availability, and maintain and update the chapter website.
Section 16. Musicianship Program
It shall be the duty of the Music Literacy Program (MLP) committee to arrange for the time and place of the WSMTA Musicianship Exams. The committee shall promote the musicianship program and provide necessary materials for the teachers.
Section 17. Archives
It shall be the duty of the Archives committee to accumulate and organize pertinent information concerning the Chapter’s activities.
Section 18. Scholarship
It shall be the duty of the Scholarship committee to oversee and administer the scholarship awards program(s) put in place by this association.
Section 19. Teacher Recital
