August 2019 News: Getting Ready for Fall!

We will have the annual “music garage sale” at our first meeting in September. Please bring your unused music to sell to benefit the scholarship fund. Also, bring one piece that you love to teach that might be new to the rest of us. We’re always looking for a “student saver”–a piece that will get that uninspired student to practice because they love it!

The deadline for signing up for Young Artist Music Series (YAMS) will be at our meeting in September. This year we will have Jeffrey Gilliam from Western Washington University. The dates of the event are: November 1-3, 2019, and January 31-February 2, 2020. Be sure to ask Julie Swienty if you have any questions!

Dates for Music Artistry Program (MAP) are: February 21-23, 2020. Our visiting artists will be Dr. Jay Mauchley, Sandy Mauchley, Debra Bakland, and Dr. Jensina Oliver. If you would like to host a day, please let me know asap so that we can include that in the next newsletter.

Finally, Dr. Oksana Ezhokina has committed to Pedagogy Classes we have proposed on Friday mornings. Specific dates, times and location are still to be determined based upon number of entries. She will charge $85 per hour, and we can split that between those attending. I will need a commitment by September meeting, so that we can settle the other details.
